1) The Clobbering Canadiens

Hockey fans have never been able to doubt the talent of Habs net minder, Carey Price. His resumé speaks for itself, from Hart and Vezina Trophies to Team Canada Gold, Price has been in the conversation as one of the league’s best goalies for nearly his entire career. Last season in particular, many hockey aficionados were under the impression that he was the only reason that his team made it through to the second round of the playoffs, doubting the actual talent in front of him, and attributing their second round exit to it.

McDavid Wallpaper

114 days later, here we are at the start of the 2015-16 NHL season. Feels good, doesn’t it? With many fans getting revved up and excited to watch their teams either dominate the regular season or make an unexpected run at the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there are also many other fans looking for a distraction from their team’s predicted abysmal season. For the later mentioned fans, as well as anyone else interested, I have constructed this list of exciting storylines to watch this season:

A Closer Look At: Coaching

By:
McLellan-homepage-061709

Since this years playoffs have begun, the teams that have found themselves on the outside looking in suddenly find themselves with a host of questions that need answering.  Invariably, the question that usually gets asked first is, “Do we continue with the current head coach?”  Now I’m sure we all are used to the usual media tropes surrounding coaches.  Such nuggets like; “He has lost the room.”  “He wasn’t a players coach.” Etc.  Further to that, you ultimately cannot replace an entire team (yes I know another cliche), especially in a salary cap league like the NHL.  The thing I’m wondering is, how can a coach be so valuable and expendable at the exact same time?

NHL Playoffs 2015: Teams that Deserve Your Love, South of the Border

By:
New York City, Hockey, NHL, New York Rangers, Flyers, Madison Square Garden

In which case, there are a few good stories floating around some of the American teams, hoping to keep the Cup south of the border, where it has been for the past 22 years! A fact in itself that may skew you in the opposite direction simply to even the playing field a little bit.

There are plenty of reasons given by some of these teams that make it more appealing to cheer for them, even if you can’t stand the team in general. Let us being with a dark-horse team, whom I think has the potential to surprise everyone, even more than they did by easily qualifying for the postseason.

A Closer Look At: League Parity

The race to the Playoffs has been undeniably interesting this year.  As we enter into the waning days of this season, fans of the NHL are being treated to a photo finish.  I can’t remember the last time that there have been this many teams in play for the final spots in the post-season tournament.  As of this writing, there are 8 teams fighting for the final spots in the East (5 teams) and West (3 Teams).  The ramifications that these final games will have on their respective markets is significant.  Especially when you consider that some of the ‘Big Boys’ of the league now find their season in peril.

A Closer Look At: Sidney Crosby

By:
crosby

OK, I need to get something out of the way.  I’m a Sidney Crosby hater.  Well not really, but he is the Captain of the Philadelphia Flyers inter-state rival, the Pittsburgh Penguins.  I respect everything that he has done and am impressed by it, but I can’t help it, every time I look at Sidney Crosby I see this:

Crosby vs. Giroux
